Educating magical youngsters since 990 A.D., Hogwarts has fostered both magical learning and community. Young witches and wizards from all over the British Isles came to get a solid foundational education across all branches of magic and to meet other like-minded magic pupils. Pupils are sorted into one of four different houses, named for the school founders: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin, by an enchanted Sorting Hat. Throughout their education their Hogwarts House functions as their home and family; spending many hours with their peers both in class, and in their house common room and dorms. At the end of their seven years, not only will they have mastered enough magic to live and work in the wizarding world; they'll also have made magical friends for life.
