Fourteen years after the fall of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order depicted in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, as the Empire is securing their grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights, a motley group of rebels unite aboard a freighter starship called the Ghost and conduct covert operations against the Imperial garrison on and around the planet Lothal and other planets that are menaced by the Empire.
